Go microlighting in Sheffield and see the sights from 2000ft! Microlighting at this small and friendly club is a true delight. Facilities are excellent, as is the microlight training offered here at Netherthorpe airfield.
Experiences at this airfield are in a flexwing microlight and you can choose from a 20, 30 or 60 minute flight. On arrival you'll be met by the microlighting team and shown around the microlight on the ground. Then once onboard, your instructor will show you the basic controls of this ultra light aircraft so you can get a feel for what microlighting is all about.
Taxiing along the runway ready for take off, the instructor will handle the initial ascent before handing over the controls to you. The feeling you get from actually flying the microlight is truly amazing and as you cruise at 2000ft, there are great sights to see too.
Heading away from the airfield, you might find yourself getting a bird's eye view of Chatsworth House, flying over the iconic Sherwood Forest with the Major Oak or even Ladybower Dam - famous for the Dambusters as well as the beautiful Peak District. A great combination of flying and sightseeing then for this microlighting in Sheffield experience.

Your experience will begin with a briefing and introduction to the aircraft and its controls as you discuss the different flight routes available for you to enjoy. Your instructor will handle take off and landing as you take in the great views. Once airborne you will be given the opportunity to take control of the aircraft and fly it yourself. You will be provided with a flight suit, helmet and intercom. Flights take place in a flexi-wing microlight. Also included is a complementary 3 month membership to the microlighting club.
Flights can be taken on weekday and weekend dates, subject to availability and weather conditions.
