The perfect gift for capital-loving fliers, microlight flying over London offers fantastic panoramic views of both the city and the river, as well as giving the lucky participant the chance to pilot a microlight for themselves! If you’ve always dreamed of taking to the skies for a stunning airborne expedition then this metropolis microlighting expedition is the experience for you.

Based in Essex and conveniently located within the M25, your microlight flying lesson is the ideal way to explore the London skyline from a totally new perspective. With routes taking in the River Thames and some notable buildings and monuments, each outing offers stunning vistas across the South East.

The Upminster centre, located just outside London, provides microlight flying for all abilities, so these sessions can be adapted to suit complete novices, experienced pilots, or anyone in between. Keith Reynolds is the Chief Flying Instructor and both he and his friendly team are fully CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) qualified, meaning you get top-class tuition right from the word go. Keith himself has clocked up many hours of microlighting, including taking part in a round-the-world flight, so he certainly knows his stuff and is highly unlikely to get lost flying over little old London in his microlight when you’ve been around the globe in one!

Flying courses here take place solely in fixed-wing microlights, of which there are two different models to choose from. The classic Thruster Sprint microlight has the motor and prop positioned above the enclosed cockpit, providing unimpeded views across London. Alternatively, the Jabiru Calypso microlight looks more like a regular light aircraft, with larger doors and cockpit than a regular fixed wing microlight. It’s also one of the most high-performance models around and might give more confidence to nervous or beginner fliers.

Our lessons near London last for either 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, but no matter how much microlighting flying time you plump for, you’ll be given the opportunity to fly the aircraft yourself. Controls are generally straightforward, but your instructor will explain all the necessary skills, and will be on-hand throughout the flight to give you help and advice. This is a truly stunning experience and will create memories that will last a lifetime.

If you think that microlight flying in London is the aviation activity for you, then book your superb sky-high session now. It’s a wonderful winged way of exploring the capital from above and is sure to make you fall in love with both the city and aeronautics in one fell swoop.
