Microlights in Staffordshire

Go microlighting in Staffordshire at this small and friendly club! All trial microlighting lessons at this venue will be taken with either Mike or Sandie, the highly experienced and enthusiastic instructors.

Mike has been flying microlights since the 1970s and has a vast knowledge in all aspects of these super light flying machines, being an aircraft inspector, a check pilot and a CAA appointed examiner. Sandie worked as a tug pilot before embarking on a microlight teaching career in 2003.

A distinct advantage at this airfield near Lichfield is that it is owner run and operated, so you'll have the run of the grass runways and there's very little other air traffic, so you can make the most of the experience of flying in one of these ultralight planes, take in the lovely views and even get to have a go with the controls.

The school flies with a range of fixed and flex winged microlights, including the Pegasus XL-R and the three axis Cyclone AX3/503 craft. All are obedient microlights that fly in the region of 60mph and with a fuel tank of 50 litres, have a range of around 240 miles when flying between 1500 and 3000ft. All in all, microlighting in Staffordshire is a fun and laid back experience we're sure you'll love!

Your lesson will begin with a pre-flight briefing from your instructors, you will then be introduced to the aircraft and the controls. Your Instructor will handle take off, then demonstrate how the microlight handles. You will then have the chance to take control and fly the aircraft yourself. The school have a range of microlights including open and closed cockpit types. All safety equipment is provided including flying suits if required. You will be presented with a certificate after your flight.

Flights are available Tuesday through to Sunday throughout the year. As with all flying activities flights are subject to weather conditions.

The venue is a private microlight airfield just outside Lichfield, within easy reach of Birmingham, Tamworth, Stafford and Burton upon Trent.

There are no height or age restrictions however maximum weight is 95 kg.

The airfield has a small clubhouse and briefing area with excellent views across the grass runways. Friends and Family are welcome to come and watch the flight.
