Take a helicopter flying lesson and enjoy the thrill of rotary flight at this centre in the heart of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire. At this centre you have the choice of a 30 or a 60 minute lesson in the chopper.

Whichever experience you choose, you will be getting a helicopter flying lesson under expert supervision. Whether you just want to realise your dream to hover in a chopper or your aim is to make your own vertical take offs and landings, this centre is renowned for excellent helicopter flying lesson training from expert instructors.

Both experiences offer an insight into the helicopter company's extensive facilities from engineering hangars to aircraft handling and sales, as well as a ground briefing before your helicopter flying lesson. All flight times quoted are from when the rotor blades are started to being switched off and all experiences offer hands on flying time.

Check out our main helicopter lessons section for more information on helicopter flights throughout the UK.
The helicopter flying lesson will include a welcome, 20 minute briefing and your chosen flight time where you will experience hands on helicopter flying and take the controls under expert supervision. Flight times are measured from start up to shutdown. You will be presented with a flight certificate (if your instructor thinks you've earned it!). Flights can be counted towards the 45 hours required to obtain a licence to fly a helicopter.
Flights are usually available all year round subject to weather conditions.
Gloucestershire Airport in the heart of the Cotswolds, just off junction 10/11 of the M5.
Minimum age is 14, maximum height is 6'4", maximum weight 16 stone.
Spectators are welcome to come and watch the action from the clubhouse or lawn which provide great views across the airfield. The airport has a restaurant serving hot and cold food and beverages. There is also an aviation museum at the airfield. The aircraft used here are 2 seaters so unfortunately there's no room for passengers.
We bought out son, Jay, a helicopter flying lesson for his 13th birthday and he flew from Staverton airport. He had a very nice lady flying instructor who, during the briefing and after asking him a few questions seemed quite impressed with his knowledge of aircraft. Needless to say, she let him take total control as they flew from Tewkesbury to Gloucester! His face was a picture when he got back - the first thing he said (bearing in mind you can start working towards getting a pilot's licence from the tender age of 14) was "Mum, I only need 45 hours flying to get my licence!"
