Taking helicopter taster flights in Buckinghamshire at the Wycombe Air Park (formerly Marlow Airfield) is a lively affair with this well-established helicopter centre. Not only giving helicopter flights, the centre is also renowned for specialist rotary aviation services such as aerial photography and load lifting.
They really are a talented bunch, counting commercial airline pilots, RAF pilots who have clocked many thousands of flying hours and even an ex-Formula 1 driver in the team of pilots offering these helicopter flights over the Buckinghamshire countryside. The centre operates a large fleet of helis, including the Eurocopter Twin Squirrel, Augusta 109 and Bell Jetranger. For helicopter trial lessons you can choose from the two seater Robinson R22 or the four seater version, the R44.
All experiences include a 20 minute pre-flight check and briefing before you get strapped in, ask air traffic control for clearance and as the rotors whirr up to speed, you'll feel yourself lifting into the air. On all flights there is time to 'have a go' with the controls and maybe even try hovering and low-level flying.
