Gliding in Gloucestershire
Great views are guaranteed for your glider flights at this well-established Gloucestershire venue, as the airfield is perfectly placed for enjoying some stunning gliding.
Surrounded by hills, the club is on the edge of the Cotswolds overlooking the Severn Estuary across to the Welsh Black Mountains in the west and the Malvern Hills to the north. Being on a high ridge often leads to excellent flight conditions for your lesson and you will have the most spectacular views of the surrounding countryside as you soar into the blue. Indeed, it has been known for some club members to cover 750km in one flight, soaring up to 20000ft!
This venue offers either a single aerotow glider flight, where you'll be taken up to 2000ft by a tug plane and then you glide gently back down, or you can opt for the more comprehensive one day experience.
On the one day glider flight course, you will get a real feel for the teamwork that's involved in preparing, launching, flying and recovering the gliders. You will enjoy an initial 2000ft aerotow glider flight, followed by an additional combination of up to four winch launches or two aerotows - in total you can expect a minimum one hour of flying time.
The flights are usually in either a K13 or K21 two seater glider, both well known training planes. A three month club membership is included in the price, so if the
gliding bug bites you, you can return for further flights.
With around 200 club members, a fleet of eight club gliders, a winch launch and two tug aircraft we think you'll find this is a friendly venue to take your glider flight, with lots going on to keep friends and family entertained too.
