Taking a glider flight at this school is going to be an exciting day out, as the airfield near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire is very active with British Airways training schools, a helicopter and two fixed wing aero clubs on site.

Indeed, you'll be taking your lesson at one of the foremost gliding clubs in the country, with a full fleet of aircraft, including several two seater trainer planes such as the K13, considered by many to be one of the best all round aircraft for learning to glide. The club has two Robins, a Piper Cub and a Piper Pawnee as tug aircraft to get you launched in the air.

With so much going on around you, your glider flight is bound to be full of excitement. As you head off being towed by one of the tug planes, keep your wits about you and you'll spot some rather fine vintage aircraft based at the same airfield - you may strike lucky and spot the Spitfire that is housed on site too!

Whether you book one, two aerotows or an introductory half day, these flights are ideal for real aviation enthusiasts, as well as those keen to 'have a go' and experience the serenity of powerless flight.

Into the Blue has a variety of gliding centres throughout the UK as well as a wide choice of experience days for almost any activity.
One aerotow glider flight usually lasts 15 mins. If you are booked on two aerotows and your first flight lasts in excess of 30 mins, you may not be taken up again for a second tow. Introductory courses last half a day and include up to 3 flights (around 45 minutes of flying in total) as well as a months membership to the Gliding Club. All flights include a ground briefing and are carried out by a BGA qualified instructor.
These gliding experiences are usually available seven days a week throughout the year.
Buckinghamshire, the airfield is two miles from Junction 4 of the M40.
The minimum age for all glider flights is 14, height 5' and weight 7 stone. Maximum height 6'4", weight 16 stone.
Spectators are welcome to come and watch as you take your glider flight and there are excellent facilities on site including a restaurant and bar. There are also good viewing and picnic areas, to make for a fun day out for all the family.
Our Bucks venue offers glider flights under the approval of the British Gliding Association.
I bought this gliding experience in Buckinghamshire as an 86th birthday present for my father, Stan, who has lived closed to the aerodrome for 30 years but never flown from there. He is still very fit and healthy and amazed the pilot by sliding easily and unassisted into the tiny glider cockpit. He was by far the eldest person she had ever taken for a first lesson! He loved the views and understanding the mechanics of glider flying. An excellent experience very professionally operated.
