What Can I Expect

Flying lessons at Redhill Aerodrome - offering 30 and 60 minute flying lessons, as well as a 30 minute experience with a dash of aerobatics. And all flights include a video recording for you to download, keep and share!

It's true to say aviation fanatics are in for a treat at Redhill Aerodrome. It's a really popular location for light aircraft, with six grass and two asphalt runways, full air traffic control and two cafes all on site. It's a bustling place and super well located just outside London alongside the M25 in Surrey. Even the car parking is free!

The flying school you'll be attending is a long-established UK CAA Approved Training Organisation, with a team of dedicated instructor pilots. Many of them are commercial or military-trained and have swathes of experience to share with you on your taster lessons.

We really like the choice of flights offered out of Redhill. You can go classic with a 30 or 60-minute trial flight, or you can spice things up a little bit on a 30-minute lesson ‘with aerobatics combo'. You get the normal introductory lesson, but with a cheeky little grand finale. You'll go literally into a spin, as your expert flying instructor climbs to sufficient height before making the plane tumble and then recovering the aircraft to level flight - now that's what we call an exhilarating way to end a lesson!

On all lessons you will be given the chance to ‘have a go' at the controls. Discover how pitching sends the aircraft into a descent or ascent. When you roll, you get the plane into a banked position. And see what happens when you are yawing by using the rudder.

On the longer 60-minute you might also find out more about trimming, using the flaps and understanding more about the effect of the controls on the aeroplane. And all this whilst being totally hands-on, with the stunning Surrey countryside as your backdrop.

And as an extra bonus, all flying lessons out of Redhill are recorded using dual-screen DJI Osmo Action sports cameras mounted in the cockpit, giving you simultaneous views out over the propeller and of you at the controls. You'll be able to download the footage for free after your flight.

Availability

• Minimum age 14
• Minimum height of 4ft 6ins and maximum of 6ft 2ins
• Maximum weight limit is 14 stone
• Customers may be asked to show a photographic form of ID

Spectators

• Spectators are very welcome at this flying school
• There is a cafe on site with great views of the runway allowing you to see participants depart and land

Anything Else

• The video will be uploaded after the flight and a link emailed out so you can download it at home on any device to re-watch
• If you have any friends or family who want to see the video you can even share the email with them
• In the unlikely event of a malfunction with the recording you will receive a £20 credit
