Hertfordshire Flights

This flight training organisation offers trial lessons from Panshanger Aerodrome, one of only two operational airfields left in Hertfordshire. Ideally located just 15 minutes from North London, you'll find this a friendly and safe environment for your flying experience, with a choice of 30 and 60 minute lessons in either a Piper Cherokee (two seats) or Piper Archer (four seat) fixed-wing light aircraft.

The centre offers professional instruction, approved by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and the AOPA (Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association) using a 1000 metre long grass runway. A trial lesson at this aerodrome means you can relax and take the time to enjoy your flight over the Hertfordshire countryside and regale yourself with the fact you get to actually take control of the aircraft once you are taken off and airborne.

To most of us the sky is the limit, but to the team at this flying centre aviation is a real passion - the sky is their home and they'd be delighted to share that enthusiasm with you on a trial flight. Whether you are buying the voucher for a first time go in a light aircraft, or for someone who shows a real interest in flying and may even want to take if further, this is an ideal gift. All flights begin with a short briefing before you are introduced to the aircraft. Once airborne you'll take control of the aircraft for the majority of the flight duration. 2 seater flights will be in a 2 seater Piper Cherokee, 4 seater flights are in a Piper Archer enabling you to bring along a guest who can observe the flight from the rear seats. After landing your pilot will provide a short post flight briefing session to answer any questions that you may have. All experiences include one months membership to the club allowing for a 10% discount in the café.

Experiences are available on most weekdays and weekends throughout the year.

We believe this to be one of the friendliest flying schools around located just 15 minutes North of London in the heart of rural Hertfordshire. The airfield has excellent road links with easy access from both the A1(M) and M25. Flights from this airfield provide the perfect opportunity to see Welwyn Garden City, St Albans and the famous Knebworth House.

There is a minimum age of 14 years. Minimum height is 4'6'', maximum 6'4''. There is a maximum weight of 18 st 12lb for 2 seater flights. 4 seater flights can accommodate larger guests and usually one adult passenger or two smaller passengers (each weighing less than 12st 8lb) at the pilot's discretion. Photographic ID may be requested.

There is a great café and bar on site serving fresh cakes, hot meals, drinks and snacks. The Clubhouse offers an excellent outdoor viewing area along with a pond, picnic and decking area where guests can view the participants in flight. Participants of the 4 seater flights can bring up to 2 guests on the flight (subject to weight limits) who can to observe the lesson from the rear seats.
