Flying School Taster Lessons

Nationwide

Experiences Flash element

These flying schools offer the perfect solution for those who prefer to have a short, but sweet, taster lesson in a training aircraft from a CAA approved school, with venues available nationwide.

If you've never flown in a private plane before, here's your chance to climb aboard these two seater light aircraft and sit up front, right beside the pilot. It really is a whole different world to scrambling for your seat on the average low-cost airline - you'll feel like a flying VIP!

Your experience will start with a safety briefing and being shown round the plane before you taxi off. Once airborne, you'll have the chance to take the controls for a few minutes and you will be flying.

Your flight will be approximately 20mins long. Once back down on terra firma, you may be presented with a certificate of achievement, but one thing is for sure, you'll be smiling from ear to ear.

If you think you'd like to fly the aircraft for longer, we've got a whole range of other flying lessons with extended flight times at flying schools across the UK.

- Taster flights last around 20 minutes
- Flight times quoted are 'chock to chock', ie. from when the aircraft starts to taxi, to when it switches off at the end of the experience
- You will have a briefing before you fly
- Some flying schools will also include a personalised certificate
- Note: Two seater flights in Oxfordshire take place in a powered glider and if conditions allow, part of the flight will include a demonstration of the gliding characteristics of the aircraft

- Weekdays and weekends throughout the year
- Trial flying lessons are dependent on favourable weather conditions

- Lincolnshire - Wickenby
- Oxfordshire - Chipping Norton
- Yorkshire - Doncaster

- Minimum age is 14 years old
- Minimum height is 4'6", maximum 6'4"
- Maximum weight of 14 stone
- You will need to provide two forms of identity including a photo id, e.g. a passport, prior to their flying school lesson

- Friends and family are welcome to come to watch the aircraft taking off and landing from the school clubhouse or welcome area
- Different levels of facilities are offered, however most schools have a clubhouse providing toilets, viewing areas and refreshments
- All flying schools are Civil Aviation Authority approved

Ever since he was five my nephew has said he wants to be a pilot when he grows up, so for his 13th birthday, we bought him a taster trial flying lesson, but to keep it a secret to the very last minute, we told him we had bought a flying voucher for Grandad's 60th birthday and Grandad told him you had to be 14 to do the experience. On the day of the flight, we all travelled up to the airfield together and all the way my nephew was saying "I'm so jealous, I wish it was my 14th birthday today." His face when we showed him the voucher was in his name was unforgettable. I would have paid 10 times the price to see the smile that spread across his face. He has a lovely photo on his wall as he's sitting ready to take off.

I bought my dad a voucher for a flying lesson for his 60th birthday - he loved it! As a boy he wanted to be a pilot, but he didn't have 20-20 vision, so this made for a brilliant present.

Website was easy to navigate around and there are lots of products to choose from. I decided on a trial flying lesson for my husband's 40th birthday which I ordered and was delivered the next day. I couldn't believe the price - it really is great value for money.
