Flying School Taster Lessons
These flying schools offer the perfect solution for those who prefer to have a short, but sweet, taster lesson in a training aircraft from a CAA approved school.
If you've never flown in a private plane before, here's your chance to climb aboard these two seater light aircraft and sit up front, right beside the pilot. It really is a whole different world to scrambling for your seat on the average low-cost airline - you'll feel like a flying VIP!
Your experience will start with a safety briefing and being shown round the plane before you taxi off. Once airborne, you'll have the chance to take the controls for a few minutes and you will be flying.
Depending on the voucher option chosen, the flight will be either 10-15mins long or 20mins long. Once back down on terra firma, you may be presented with a certificate of achievement, but one thing is for sure, you'll be smiling from ear to ear.
If you think you'd like to fly the aircraft for longer, we've got a whole range of other flying lessons with extended flight times at flying schools across the UK.
Experience Summary: Taster flights at these flying schools will last 10/15 minutes or 20 minutes depending on the option purchased. Flight times quoted are 'chock to chock', ie. from when the aircraft starts to taxi, to when it switches off at the end of the experience. A briefing with your school pilot will last 10-30 minutes in addition to this. If you wish to extend your ariel adventure most flying schools will allow you to upgrade the duration of your flight when booking (additional fees payable on site). Some flying schools will also include a personalised certificate.
Availability: Flying schools usually offer flights on weekdays and weekends throughout the year, depending on favourable weather conditions.
Requirements: The minimum age is 14 years old. Minimum height is 4'6", maximum 6'4" with a maximum weight of 14 stone (some aero clubs may be able to take up to 16 stone by arrangement). Customers need to provide two forms of identity including a photo id, e.g. a passport, prior to their flying school lesson.
Spectators and Facilities: Friends and family are welcome to come to watch the aircraft taking off and landing from the school clubhouse or welcome area. Different levels of facilities are offered, however most schools have a clubhouse providing toilets, viewing areas and refreshments.
Note: All flying schools are Civil Aviation Authority approved.
