Find your wings at this Coventry flying school! All planes used are dual-controlled, so whether you fancy flying in a four or a two seater light aircraft, there are plenty of flight durations to choose from at this friendly centre just south east of Coventry city centre in the village of Baignton - and yes, you will be invited to take the controls too.
This club has been around since 1932 and offering flight lessons out of Coventry airport since 1995. Based at the Light Aircraft Park, the school boasts as flight office, clubhouse and large, modern hangar. It operates very much as a collective, because the facilities and the aircraft are all owned, managed, run and flown by the members, so a visit here for a lesson gives you a fascinating insight into the world of civil aviation.
When you arrive, you will greeted by one the duty managers at this Coventry base. These are club members who oversee the flying at the school on a rota basis and tasks include daily checks of the planes, opening up the hangar, wheeling the planes out to the apron in front of the club house, organising for the refuelling bowser to come along if necessary, managing self-hire flight bookings and, of course, trial lessons from Intotheblue clients!
The enthusiastic team here reckons they have trained hundreds of pilots over the years, some of whom have gone on to become busy civil airline first officers and captains, others have enjoyed distinguished military flying careers and many just revel in the sheer pleasure of recreational aviation. Whatever your flying aims are, the teaching here at this school in Coventry is very, very good and all instructor pilots are passionate about what they do and love nothing more than taking a 'newbie' up in a light plane for their maiden flight.
There is a fleet of modern aircraft operating out of Coventry flying school and for these 30, 45 or 60 minute lessons, you have the choice of taking lessons in the two seat high-wing Cessna 150 or a four seat, low wing aircraft such as the Piper Warrior III or the Archer II. As with all the flying schools we use, this one in Coventry is fully CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) registered for lessons.
