Airliner Simulator Bluewater
Take a flight simulator lesson at Bluewater in Kent and you'll get the sensation of flying a jet airliner without even leaving the shopping centre. This thrilling new simulator (other flying experiences are available) is just like flying a Boeing 737-700 plane and as soon as you climb into the cockpit and get settled into the captain's seat, it all starts to feel very realistic.
The overhead panels and controls are fully operational and the screens offer a wraparound view of the flight path. The simulator makes all the right noises too, with the acceleration of the engines, the lowering of the flaps, warning messages and alarms too. There are over 500 different departure airports available, so why not choose your favourite holiday destination and fly yourself there!
A fully qualified pilot instructor will be sitting in the co-pilot's seat to guide you through your flight simulator lesson. The 20, 30 and 45 minute flights all offer one take off and one landing and the longer the flight, the more time you have to try some manoeuvres like banked turns. The 60 minute flight offers two take offs and two landings, with extended panoramic flying time. These flight simulator lessons make for a thrilling ride without even leaving the ground, at the easily accessible Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.
Full Details: All flight simulation experiences are taken in a purpose built airliner simulator which closely resembles the flight deck of a Boeing 737NG. During a short preflight briefing you'll discuss what you'd like to get from the experience, most flights can be tailored to include your choice of over 500 airports worldwide. Following an introduction to the controls your qualified pilot will then guide you as you take the controls on your chosen flight path. The experience can be tailored to suit people with no flying experience, through to seasoned pilots, all the controls and instruments work just like a real aircraft. After your flight you'll be presented with a personalised certificate. DVD recordings of your flight can be purchased for £10 payable on site. The simulator does not move.
Availability: You won't get grounded with this flight as the simulator is usually available 7 days a week from 10am to 9pm (11am-5pm on Sundays).
Location: The simulator is located at Bluewater shopping centre with easy access from junctions 1 or 2 of the M25. A shuttle bus link operates from nearby Greenhithe station
Requirements: Recommended minimum age is 12 however as long as you can reach the controls and take instruction from your pilot you can fly the simulator. Under 18's must be accompanied by a spectating adult. If you have a fear of flying the pilots can tailor the session to your requirements explaining how the aircraft works and what happens during each phase of the flight.
Spectators and Facilities: Spectators are welcome to come and watch free of charge, the cockpit is usually screened during the flight however there are three passenger seats located behind the pilots offering a close up view of the action, a big screen TV can also display the flight to other spectators and passers by. Bluewater offers a wide range of restaurants, cafes, and shops, enough to keep friends and family busy for the whole day.
