Aerobatic flying has to be the ultimate for those flying fanatics who seek stomach-churning thrills (
gentler flying lessons available too ) and here's a chance to do some aerobatics in either Northamptonshire or Manchester, in one of the most coveted modern aerobatic planes around - the CAP10.
Make no mistake, this experience is not for the faint-hearted. Anyone who knows a little bit about air displays will know that these CAP10 aircraft are the 'industry standard' for performing amazing stunts in the sky. Your expert pilot will take you through an extreme aerobatic sequence and then it's over to you to have a go at repeating the loops, rolls and turns under the careful coaching of the pilot sitting beside you.
With a chock-to-chock time of 25 minutes (that's literally the amount of time you'll be in the plane from taxing off to landing) this is a great value aerobatic experience that will be sure to delight.
Aircraft Stats: Outstanding performance and aerobatic capability, side by side seating configuration, g limits +6g and -4g. Max speed around 170mph. Power 180bhp.
Experience Summary: Allow spending up to two hours at the venue, your aerobatic experience includes your flight time of 25 minutes (chock to chock), a half hour briefing and presentation of aerobatic flight certificate.
Availability: Aerobatic flights operate throughout the year however due to weather conditions in the UK the main flying season runs from April to October. Flights are usually available on weekends and weekdays.
Location: Aerobatic flights take place from Sywell about six miles North-East of Northampton, or from Barton (City Airport Manchester) 5 miles from Manchester City Centre, close to Junction 11 of the M60 Motorway.
Requirements: Maximum weigh limit is 18 stone, minimum height is 5’, maximum height is 6’4”, no previous flying experience is required. Soft soled shoes should be worn. Cameras cannot be taken on the flights.
Spectators and Facilities: Spectators are more than welcome to come and watch at either venue. The Northampton venue has a Café on site providing food and drink, there is also a hotel on the edge of the airfield along with an aviation museum. The Manchester venue has a restaurant and bar. Both airfields have "garden" areas where your friends and family can see the aircraft coming and going.
A number of aerobatic aircraft are fitted with on-board video recording equipment. You have the option of requesting a custom DVD of your flight when you make your booking with the operator, an additional fee of £45 applies.
