What Can I Expect
These West Sussex falconry experiences will see you meeting the magnificent birds of prey at this wonderful centre in the heart of the Sussex Weald, just north of Chichester.
We are offering a trio of vouchers for you, with a choice of an owl handling session, a half day or a full day working with the raptors at this friendly and welcoming farm centre in the village of Compton. Your visit starts with refreshments, as well as an introduction to the birds you'll meet, background information on the sport of falconry, as well as their natural hunting habits and wildlife habitat.
If you're a fan of owls, you will love the owl handling experiences. Being two hours long, it's ideal for dipping your beak into the world of raptors and you will get to meet, photograph, handle and fly some wonderfully beady-eyed birds such as the Barn and European Owls.
For half-day falconry sessions, you'll meet and admire a range of owls, hawks and falcons. For full-day bookings, you'll break for a homemade lunch at midday, before continuing your experience in the afternoon.
The afternoon session will see you getting the chance to get creative, learning how to make some of the training equipment falconers use, such as anklets and jesses. You will also go more in-depth on the best ways to train various birds of prey.
Weather permitting, the full-day experience then concludes with free flying in the field, where you can fully appreciate the majesty and splendour of these magical birds.
