What Can I Expect

Find your wings at this Coventry flying school! This is your opportunity to take the controls of a two or four seater light aircraft for a 30, 45 or 60-minute trial lesson. This flight academy is a great place to visit, with enthusiastic in-house instructors who will be only too pleased to take you on a flying lesson.

This friendly flying school is based out of Coventry Airport. Just southeast of the city centre in the village of Baignton, the airport is well-placed for visitors from all over the Midlands. It's entirely dedicated to General Aviation, with mostly light aircraft, but with a 2000m-long asphalt runway, Coventry is more than capable of welcoming much larger aircraft.

Upon arrival, you will receive a briefing from one of the experienced CAA licensed instructors to introduce you to the controls and what to expect, as well as a safety briefing. Relax, this is not a memory test, the briefing is designed to give you an overview only and your instructor will be guiding you through the entire flight.

Once you are briefed, you'll walk out to the aircraft. You'll be taken through the entire start up process and shown how to taxi the aircraft (which is done with your feet!). When you are ready for departure, your instructor will handle the take off.

Having climbed to around 1000ft and after a demonstration of the controls and instruments, you'll be given the opportunity to control the aircraft yourself. As your flying time comes to an end, your instructor will guide you towards the airfield and they will take control of the aircraft in order to land. After the flight, you will receive a certificate to commemorate your experience.

The aircraft you'll be flying in for your lesson out of Coventry will be a popular plane such as a Cessna or Piper. They are used the world over for flight training purposes as they are well-built, agile and easy to fly. And remember, this is your flight, so you'll be invited to ask all the questions you want and if there is anything in particular you want to try, just ask and the team will try to accommodate your request.

Suitable For

• Minimum age is 14
• Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult on the airfield

Two Seater Restrictions 

• Maximum weight 14 stone
• Maximum height 6ft 1 inch

Four Seater Restrictions 

• Maximum weight depends on a number of factors, please contact us prior to booking if you are more than 18 stone.
• Maximum height 6ft 3 inches

Spectators

• Spectators are welcome to attend and watch participants in flight with plenty of great photo opportunities
• Participants of the four seater experiences may bring an interested observer (min age 14) who can observe the lesson from the rear seat (at the discretion of the flight instructor and subject to weather conditions)
• For four seater flights, if you are flying solo there is a maximum weight limit of 17 stone
