What Can I Expect

Launch yourself into coasteering in Dorset! There's no denying this famous Jurassic coastline is best explored on foot. And on this coastal adventure, you'll be scrambling and jumping into the nooks and crannies of this impressive coast.

Your meet up point is Spyway Barn, on the cliff tops near Swanage at the Isle of Purbeck. Your guides will explain the programme for the session and go through all the safety aspects, etiquette and techniques of coasteering.

You then head to Dancing Ledge. It's a great name for this expanse of flat rock, but we'll leave it to your guides to explain why it's called Dancing Ledge (it involves the way the waves move!). You will be swimming, scrambling up rocks and jumping off them into the surf, discovering sea coves and lots more. And all with superb Dorset views.

We have to say, this whole area is fascinating. It's a pretty wild coastline and if the rocks could talk, they'd tell you tales of smugglers, shipwrecks, battles and storms on these shores. And of course, stone was directly extracted from the cliffs towering above the sea around these parts. It is these former quarries that have left a fabulous coastal playground to explore.

These Coasteering experiences in Dorset are led by Kelvin, Jordan, Chris and their experienced team of guides. All the equipment you need is included and the guides will be with you every step of the way to encourage you to take those leaps of faith. It's great fun and a whole new way to discover the stunning Dorset coast near Swanage.

Availability

• Session times are usually:
  9:00AM - 12:00PM
  12:30PM - 15:30PM

• If your experience is cancelled due to weather this will be rescheduled

Suitable For

• Minimum age 14
• Under 18s must be accompanied by a participating adult
• A good level of fitness is required
• No prior coasteering experience is required
• Suitable for all swimming abilities. If you are unable to swim, you can still take part but you may struggle with participating in certain aspects of the experience

Spectators

• Not suitable for spectators

Anything Else

Please bring the following items with you on the day:

• A pair of shoes with laces to wear in the water
• A swimming costume to wear under a wetsuit
• A water bottle
• A towel
• A change of dry clothing
• Contact lenses (If you can get away with not wearing them, that's best. If you do need them to see, be sure to have a spare pair to put in after your session)
