What Can I Expect
Fly the Fylde without leaving the ground in this 737 simulator at Blackpool Airport! This is your chance to captain a Boeing 737-800NG passenger aircraft, as you learn what flying as a commercial pilot is all about on a 30, 60, 90 or 120-minute sim session.
This impressive 737 simulator is based in Hangar 8 at Blackpool Airport. Developed by commercial airline pilots, within one of the UKs leading private and commercial flight training schools. This superb attraction appeals to complete novices through to those with their own private or commercial pilot's licence. Have access to your own aircraft? You can even fly in for your experience!
The sim set up is certainly impressive. It just feels so right. And that's because the team was at pains to make it as realistic as possible, using high grade materials to re-create the same acoustics as a real 737 cockpit. And although the simulator doesn't move, you feel the engine vibrations and hear all the sounds; from the thrust of the jets, to the 'ping' of the seatbelt sign. Then there are the incredible high-definition images on the 220-degree wraparound screen. Even all the dials and buttons on the flight deck are fully functional, creating a totally immersive experience at the helm of the big jet!
So once you're in the captain's seat, what's your schedule going to look like? Well, with over 24,000 airports programmed into this simulator, you could be flying anywhere from Blackpool to the Bahamas. Most people go for the 'Popular Routes', which are tried and tested destinations. they always go down well with customers and offer the most realistic graphics - right down to the airport signage and the luggage trucks whizzing around as you're on stand.
We also love the fact that there are two rows of cabin seats integrated into the very clever design of this sim, so up to five friends and family members can join you on your flight as cabin passengers. What's more, Blackpool is a working airport, which is what make the whole experience even more fun. Aviation fans will love it and of course, the airport is less than a mile from Blackpool's famous seafront and beaches.
