Combine intrigue with luxury and fine dining on this Steam Train Murder Mystery Break! You'll spend a full weekend discovering the renowned Great Central Railway - Britain's only mainline double-track heritage steam railway and finding out there's something rather mysterious going on...

Your weekend starts with checking in to the four star Best Western Premier Yew Lodge Hotel, your four star home for the next two nights. In the evening you'll make your way to Loughborough station for a very special departure. As you sit back and relax, enjoy the views out of the window and tuck in to a freshly prepared five course dinner, you may notice something odd going on. Could this be a murder mystery about to unfold before your very eyes on this steam train?

After solving the mystery, you can enjoy a restful nights' sleep back at the hotel, rising for a tasty breakfast Saturday morning. This package also includes a full day 'runabout' ticket, allowing you both to explore the entire Great Central Railway line, hopping on and off at different stations and visiting the museum too. 

Back at the hotel on Saturday night you'll enjoy a three-course meal in the restaurant. The hotel has prided itself on its reputation for fine food and warm hospitality for over fifty years.  After your second night, it's time to check out following breakfast at the hotel in the morning. This is a 2 night Hotel and Steam train dining break.
Friday - Check into the hotel from 2pm. Murder Mystery performance begins 7.00pm. The train departs from Loughborough Station at 7:30pm as you begin your Murder Mystery evening. A five course meal is served during the trip as you work out 'whodunit'.  The hotel will shuttle you to and from the Great Central Railway for your evening there.
Saturday - Breakfast at the hotel is included. You will receive a complimentary runabout train ticket allowing you to spend the day exploring the railway and visiting the traditional tearooms at the platforms.  A 3 course meal is served in the evening back at the hotel.
Sunday - Breakfast at the hotel before check out at 11am. You may depart from the hotel at your leisure.


This two night break is available from Friday to Sunday from April to October. Check in on the Friday is from 2pm. Check out on the Sunday is at 11am. The Murder Mystery performance starts at 7.00pm and the steam train dining service departs from Loughborough station on the Friday evening at 7:30pm and arrives back at 10:00pm.


Yew Lodge Hotel is located in Kegworth, Derbyshire just ten miles from both Derby and Nottingham. There is easy access via plane, train and automobile with the East Midlands airport, Parkway - East Midlands railway station and the M1 at junction 24 all very close by.


This experience is suitable for all ages however under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.


Spectators are not permitted on this experience however additional guests can purchase Murder Mystery Dining tickets and join you on the trip (hotel break not included). Rooms at the 4 star hotel are equipped with an en suite bathroom, flat screen  TV and movie hire, tea/coffee making facilities, WiFi access, ironing facilities, telephone and hairdryer. The town of Kegworth itself is delightful and the staff at the hotel will be more than happy to recommend ways for you to spend your free time in the area.
