Fire Engine Driving in Lincolnshire
On this fire engine driving session, you will spend an hour with an experienced instructor and firefighter, learning how to drive one of these big reds safely and quickly near Louth in Lincs.
You will manoeuvre either a 13 ton Dennis RS or Scania 82m fire appliance around a specially laid out private course including top gear main roads, roundabouts, T-junctions, slaloms and garages.
To make things as realistic as possible the vehicle will be carrying a full equipment load and carrying two tonnes of water. That should come in handy as you get to grips with the on board hose. If conditions allow you may even get to put out a small blaze.
Experience Summary: This is an exclusive event and you will be driving the fire appliance on a one to one basis, with around one hour at the wheel. You should allow around and hour and half at the venue.
Availability: This activity is run on weekdays and weekends throughout the year, with various start times both morning and afternoon.
Requirements: You must be fit, able bodied and 17 years of age or over. You must be fit enough to enable you to climb into a high cab. Maximum weight is 114kg (18 stone), maximum height 1.93m (6'4"), minimum height 1.57m (5'2"). A full valid UK or European driving licence will need to be brought and shown on the day.

Up to three spectators can usually ride in the fire appliance for the duration of the course. They may also take a turn at the controls with the instructors approval.
