Drive a tank in Staffordshire! This excellent value tank driving activity will see you drive the GKN FV432 armoured personnel carrier, command it and ride in it too. That's the beauty of this experience, there's no hanging around waiting, it's action, action all the way.

The FV432 at this centre near Rugeley in Staffordshire boasts Rolls Royce engines kicking out 240bhp and, despite weighing 15 tonnes, can power along at an earth-pounding 32mph along the 1.5 mile long course. This tank is one seriously big boy measuring in at 5.25m long, 2.8m wide and 2.28m high. And don't forget there are 1,500 of these APCs still working in the army.

You will be driving this tank for at least 20 minutes and when you're not driving you won't just be standing around, you'll either be up on top commanding the tank or riding inside the tank, just like a real commando. And what's more, friends and family can also join in the fun by riding in the tank with you, to make this drive a tank experience in Staffordshire fun for all the family. 

Your experience will begin with a full safety brief as you are kitted with your safety gear. You will be formed into a team with the experience lasting 1.5-2.5 hours. You will take turns at driving, commanding and riding in the troop compartment. Each participant should receive at least 20 minutes driving time. You will be driving a GKN FV432 15 tonne Tank.


Tank driving experiences take place on selected Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year - starting June 2011.


Experiences are held on a site near Rugeley in Staffordshire with easy access from the M6, M42 and A38.


A minimum age of 14 is required and all under 18's must be accompanied by an adult.


Friends are family can purchase a spectators ticket for £10 which entitles them to a lap around the circuit from the instructor inside the tank.
