Great value Tank Driving in Nottinghamshire! Head deep into the Sherwood Forest area between Nottingham and Mansfield and you'll come across a growling tank waiting eagerly to be driven by you. Yes, the FV432 full tracked armoured personnel carrier is an impressive piece of military hardware and it's lurking in a field near Blidworth!
As you arrive at basecamp, you will be welcomed by the team, offered a drink and listen to a safety briefing. But don't get too settled, this is a war zone after all and the alert could be given at any time. And sure enough there'll be a shout on the radio and you'll hear that the camp is under attack! Time to scramble to safety as fast as possible. You'll be bundled aboard the APC, hatch closed and full speed ahead to save yourselves. This is a very realistic escape role play scenario and you will experience what it'd be like to be one of the troops under a red alert.
Once you've been given the all clear, you will trundle back in your full caterpillar tracked Armoured Personnel Carrier. This military vehicle doesn't just look the part with it's green and black livery as countryside camouflage, it IS the part as it's an ex-British Army machine that, if it could talk, would tell tales of heroic battlefield activities and missions, as this FV432 has seen plenty of active service all over the world on war and peace keeping campaigns.
Back at base and all things calm, it's now over to you to drive. You will take it in turns to clamber in through the top of the hatch and sit in the hot seat. The controls are very odd and quite tricky to get used to, but the top notch instructing team will soon get your rumbling along. You will be negotiating a specially constructed course that was designed just for this FV432 to show off its off road prowess.
This Nottinghamshire venue boasts rough terrain with steep inclines (where you won't be able to see anything in front of you from the driving position!), deep drops and, of course, a good dose of mud, grit and water. Just you wait and see how much this impressive machine enjoys churning up the terrain - and all this with two crew and up to 10 infantry onboard, with speeds of up to 52kph.
Your tank driving in Nottinghamshire experience gives you around 10 to 15 minutes of time at the controls of this fine example of an army FV432 Armoured Personnel Carrier. Instruction is on a one to one basis, with you sitting in the hatch and the expert tank driver sitting the outside of tank directing you. You will be part of a group of up to 10 budding tank drivers on the day at this venue just outside Blidworth and to get into the military feel of things you will get kitted up in genuine tank suits and army helmets.
