This amphibious military vehicle loves land and water and you can drive it at this superb centre near Dundee in Scotland. Fully camouflaged up, this giant is actually an Alvis Stalwart FV620 that was first used by the British Army in 1966 to transport troops and stocks over off road terrain, through rivers and lakes.

Affectionately known as 'Stollys', these 10 tonners boast six wheel drive, four wheel steering and a reverse gearbox. They're not the easiest of military beasts to drive, so you'll be given plenty of time to get used to the controls. Even getting into the vehicle is fun - as the only access is through a roof hatch - so slide into the cab and take your position in the middle seat which is the rather odd driving position of this Stalwart.

Things will start of gently with a practise run around the flatter mud and dirt tracks, before you move on to tackling the bumps. Once you've sussed out driving on land, it's time to go amphibious in your military vehicle and go full pelt through water dips and pools. Watch out behind you though, it looks like there are enemy tanks on your tail so you'd better get a move on!

It's unique and totally looks the part in full army livery, so you're bound to have some serious fun taking this Stalwart over land and water in the heart of the Scottish countryside - the perfect terrain for it.

Upon arrival you will be kitted out in your army gear including combat clothing, helmet and camouflage face paint. You will receive a briefing session on the history and capabilities of the 10 tonne Stalwart Amphibious lorry. You will then climb through the hatch and into the drivers seat as you receive an introduction to the controls. You will complete a couple of practice laps before tackling some more challenging terrain including water dips whilst being chased by enemy tanks. At the end of your experience you will be presented with a certificate of achievement. The experience will last for one hour.


Experiences run on weekend and weekday dates throughout the year and are subject to availability.


Experiences take place in Dundee in Northeast Scotland. There is easy access to Dundee and Perthshire city centres as well as major motorway networks.


Participants must hold a full driving licence. All under 18's must be accompanied by an adult. You must be over 5ft to drive the vehicle.


Spectators are more than welcome. There are plenty of great photo opportunities so bring cameras along.
