Military Taster Leicestershire
This military driving experience in Leicestershire takes place on a former World War Two bombing range near Husband's Bosworth, a befitting place to trundle around in military vehicles!
There's always a full fleet of armoured military vehicles to choose from, including the rather feisty Russian BRDM2 reconnaissance vehicle, the fully tracked SnowCats, the beefy Bedford Army Truck, the British designed and built Ferret Scout Car, Swedish military vehicles from Hagglund and the impressive 17-ton FV432 armoured personnel carrier.
On your military driving experience in Leicestershire, you'll get to drive two vehicles, with a total time behind the wheel for around 40 minutes. Once you arrive at the military driving venue in Leics, there'll be a safety briefing and then you'll head out to attack the obstacle course in your two military vehicles.
No matter which heavyweight military vehicles and trucks you'll be driving, you'll love the special 1.2 mile mud-filled course at this challenging military driving site in Leicestershire.
Experience Summary: This experience allows you to drive two military vehicles - one heavily armoured vehicle and one lighter military vehicle. The experience lasts around 90 mins and includes: welcome and safety briefing, introduction to the vehicles and 40mins total individual drive time. You may be forming part of a small group of up to six and may get the chance to ride in vehicles whilst others drive around a challenging 1.2 mile course. Overalls, helmets and gloves are provided as required.
Availability: These military driving experiences in Leicestershire take place all year round on most weekends and selected weekdays including evenings during summer months (FV432 is only available April to October). The following vehicles are usually available on site Russian BRDM2 armoured personnel carrier, Snowcat, Hagglund, Ferret Armoured Scout car, Bedford Army Truck, 17 tonne FV432 armoured personnel Carrier. Vehicles used are selected by the operator on the day, individuals and smaller groups may be able to pick from the selection. This activity also allows you to opt for a tank paintball battle experience as an alternative.
Location: Leicestershire/ Northants border near Market Harborough.
Requirements: You must be at least 17 years old and hold a full driving licence. If you are taller than 6’4” or heavier than 22 stone you may find it difficult to drive some vehicles. Access to some vehicles involves climbing into tight spaces.
Spectators and Facilities: Spectators are welcome to take pictures of participants in the vehicles and "see them off". Viewing of the tank driving activities is not allowed due to the site safety regulations at this Leicestershire venue. Spectators may be able to ride as passengers, if there is room in the vehicles, for an extra fee of £10 payable on site (minimum age 8 years). Toilets and changing facilities are on site. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available to purchase on site.
