Whether you are totally new to driving an all terrain off road vehicle or have already had a go at off road 4x4 driving, the one hour and two courses are great as they are taught on a one to one basis. This means your off roading outing will be geared to exactly what you want to do, according to your experience and how daring you're prepared to be!
Most drivers taking their first steps in learning to drive a 4x4 will start on the first of five sections on the purpose built off-road site. Here, the challenge is to learn how to head up and down hill, to negotiate rutted terrain and the odd mud or water trough too.
From then on it's simple - if you choose the longer two hours experience you get double the time to perfect your Land Rover driving skills and you may even find yourself on the advanced section of the terrain by the end!
The family 4x4 experience is a great way to share 4x4 driving amongst family or friends. The only stipulation is that youngsters are at least 13 years old and able to reach the pedals to drive. Offering four hours of driving fun, these experiences are perfect for those wanting to 'mix and match' the driving time with passenger time and to share with others. And in case you were wondering, you don't actually have to be a family to take advantage of this offer, four friends will do just as well!
These offroad experiences operate on an exclusive basis with 1:1 tuition or up to 4:1 for the family sessions. Allow spending an additional quarter of an hour on site for briefings plus your chosen drive time of one, two or four hours. You will be instructed by BORDA approved instructors in Land Rover Discovery 200/300 vehicles. Personalised certificates are available on completion of your 4x4 experience. One and two hour experiences can be shared with an additional driver at a cost of £25.
Courses run on weekends and weekdays throughout the year. Morning and afternoon sessions are usually available.
The venue is located a purpose built activity centre easily accessible from junction 49 of the A1. Putting it within easy reach of York, Leeds, Teeside, Newcastle and Manchester.
Minimum age is 13, young drivers must be tall enough to reach the pedals so a minimum height of 4'6" applies. No driving licence is required. As very little gear changing is required this activity can be enjoyed by children or those with little or no previous driving experience. The four hour family session can be shared by up to four drivers. Under 18's must be accompanied on site by an adult.
Due to the off road nature of this activity it is not suitable for spectators however one and two hour experiences can be shared with an additional driver for an extra fee of £25. Snacks and drinks are available to purchase.
