How do you fancy going Quad Biking in London? Well, as near as you can get to riding a quad bike around the streets of London that is, as we know these ATVs are not allowed on the public roads, but they are most welcome at Apps Court Farm in Walton on Thames that is in the middle of the commuter belt for London. Expect mud, grit but definitely no tears!
Offering quad biking sessions since 1989, this venue south west of central London offers back to basics quadding that demands skill and concentration. You won't be heading off a simple tour of the fields here, it's all about taking on a challenging circuit (and your fellow quad bikers!) in a rally-style.
An intricate layout has been devised by Abi and her team (all of whom are very good bikers from the London area themselves and know this quad biking track like the back of their hands) to make even the most seasoned All Terrain Vehicle rider sweat a little bit as they try to keep the best line with the throttle on. It's all about being smooth, knowing the ins and outs of the track and when to power on and off. You can even use your weight to shift the balance on your quad to help take those banked turns even quicker and tighter.
Given the pace of the activity here, you'll need a trusty ATV that's up for the job. There is a large fleet of quads here, including the 160cc Unilli model. Designed to be fun, fast and just a little bit furious, you can fling these bikes into corners and they won't mind a bit (and if you miss, there are lots of tyre walls to bounce you back in course!). In fact, that engine growl just means they are loving it - and we think you will love this purpose-built centre that's the nearest to London for quad biking.
To up the game even more, once you are OK with the controls having done a few practice laps, the heat is most definitely on as several quads are unleashed onto the track at once and you can race around chasing each other and the clock. Various sessions take place, so everyone gets plenty of driving time and resting time in between rides, as well as having the chance to go head to head with other quadders.
This experience gives adults a half day of quad biking. Near London and easy to get to by car or public transport, it is open throughout the year. If it's been raining expect the circuit to be muddy, but you will be kitted out with coveralls and a full face helmet. Quad bikes with different engine capacities are available, to suit all levels of rider.
