Hovercrafts – do you drive them, pilot them, ride them or fly them? We’ve got no idea what the official term is, but one thing we are sure of is that they are great fun and like nothing else you’ve ever tried to drive (or fly, or ride..!) in the depths of the Kent countryside!

Following a safety briefing and demo, you’ll learn the basics of controlling these machines and find out that controlling a hovercraft is not as easy as it looks!  Piloting the race proven Flying Fish Formula 25 single seater hovercraft, you’ll soon appreciate that these lightweight machines deliver a whole world of fun and excitement and can even reach speeds of 30mph

Once you have the hang of controlling the craft, you’ll move onto a challenging obstacle course to test what you have learned. Then it's onto the purpose built Hover Cross track where you'll fly over land and water pushing your hovercraft skills to the limit in a series of time trials against other hovercraft drivers.  
 
All times are recorded and if you are top of the leader board with the fastest time at the end of the year, you will be invited back for a free day of hovercrafting fun!

Your experience will last  two hours and includes a welcome and safety briefing, introduction to the controls, hovercraft practice session and hover cross session flying over land and water. Each pilot will also receive a personalised certificate as a reminder of their day. In total you can expect to be piloting the hovercraft for 30 minutes.  You will be split into groups of 5 with an instructor guiding you through each stage. There may be up to 3 hovercraft on the circuit at any one time. Groups of 12-21 can be accommodated exclusively making this an ideal hen or stag event. Hovercraft experiences operate throughout the year on most weekends each month. Sessions usually operate with groups of 5 starting half hourly from 10.30 - 2.30. Larger group sessions of 12-21 can usually take place on additional weekdays and weekend dates.


Hovercraft experiences take place in Sandwich, East Kent.


You need to be at least 12 years old to take part, no previous experience is required. You should wear a long sleeved top and long trousers. A spare set of clothes are recommended as you may get wet. Safety helmets and ponchos are supplied.


Spectators are very welcome to come and watch free of charge.  There is a cabin on site as well as portable toilet facilities. Refreshments are available on site, local pubs and cafes are around 2 miles away.
