Hovercraft Experiences in Kent
Hovercrafts – do you drive them, pilot them, ride them or fly them? We’ve got no idea what the official term is, but one thing we are sure of is that they are great fun and like nothing else you’ve ever tried to drive (or fly, or ride..!) in the depths of the Kent countryside!
Following the safety briefing, you’ll learn very quickly that controlling a hovercraft is not as easy as it looks! Piloting the race proven Flying Fish Formula 25 single seater hovercraft, you’ll soon appreciate that these lightweight machines deliver a whole world of fun and excitement and can even reach speeds of 30mph
Once you start getting the hang of controlling the craft, you’ll take part in a series of pursuit and relay races against other hovercraft drivers. You’ll be pushing the hovercraft to its limits as you whizz over land and water.
There is even the specially devised ‘Flying Fish Challenge’ which will get your adrenalin pumping as you get the chance to set a ‘fastest lap’ against the clock. If you are top of the leader board with the fastest time at the end of the year, you will be invited back for a free day of hovercrafting fun!

Experience Summary: Your experience will last three to four hours and includes a welcome and safety briefing, introduction to the controls, hovercraft practice session, hover cross session flying over land and water and a timed lap against the clock. Each pilot will also receive a personalised certificate as a reminder of their day. In total you can expect to be piloting the hovercraft for 30-45 minutes. You will be forming part of a group of up to 14 guests split into two teams. Tea and coffee are provided throughout the session. Groups of 12 or more can be accommodated exclusively making this an ideal hen or stag event.
Availability: Hovercraft experiences operate throughout the year. 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month at Paddock Wood and 2nd and 4th Saturdays at Sandwich. Saturday sessions accommodate a maximum of 14 guests. Exclusive groups of 12 or more can also take place on selected additional weekday and weekend dates. Hovercrafting sessions usually begin at 10.30 and 2.30.
Location: Two venues are available - Sandwich in East Kent with easy access from the A257 Canterbury Road or Paddock Wood in West Kent with good access via the A21 from Junction 5 of the M25.
Requirements: You need to be at least 12 years old to take part, no previous experience is required. You should wear old clothes and bring a spare set as you may get wet. Safety helmets and ponchos are supplied.
Spectators and Facilities: Spectators are very welcome to come and watch free of charge. Portable toilet facilities are provided on site. Both venues are within easy reach of local towns and villages offering a variety of shops and pubs.
