These advanced wine days are ideally suited to any wine enthusiast who has attended an introductory course or already has some knowledge of grapes and wine production. You will get to sample 14 superb examples from around the world under the guidance of experienced wine experts.
Courses are hosted by Margaret Silbermann, an established figure in the wine trade and holder of diplomas in Wine and Spirit Education Trust and advanced in studies for the prestigious 'Master of Wine' qualification. Having travelled to the majority of the world's wine regions her practical knowledge provides a valuable insight into understanding and enjoying wine.
The aim of the course is to provide a greater understanding of wines from around the world and help with the process of choosing the perfect wine for any occasion. During the day you will learn about the major wine regions in Europe, Americas, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. 14 carefully selected wines will be sampled and used as the basis for discussing the climate, important vintages, soil and grape varieties, winemaking trends and important producers of the major classic wine regions, matching food and wine and identifying value for money when purchasing wine.
Courses run from 1000 to 1700 with an hours break for lunch (lunch not included). You will taste 14 different wines during your day. Wine, tasting glasses, water, biscuits and notes are provided. You will be part of a group of up to 16 trainee tasters. Alternatively, why not book yourself into one of our
vineyard tours, there's plenty of choice throughout the UK and you'll experience at first hand the skills involved in making a perfect wine.
Courses are available on selected Saturdays throughout the year, usually at least once a month. Courses are unavailable in July, August and December 15th - January 15th.
This activity is not suitable for spectators, however, the venue is close to Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Soho and Regents Park. The hotel offers a restaurant, bar and toilet facilities as well as providing access for disabled visitors.
