Taking place in large professional kitchens equipped with all the best gadgets from the likes of Le Creuset, Neff, Magimix and Wusthof, your resident chef John Rogers will present a range of cookery workshops from dinner party cookery menus and food of love courses for St Valentine's, to festive fare recipes in winter and even a special game cookery course assisted by game and poultry expert Richard Townsend. Offering hands on cookery, the course will end with a hearty luncheon in the stylish dining room.

John has demonstration extensively at food festivals in the region, including Swinton Park's own Alfresco Food Festival and he has previously trained at Michelin starred restaurants.  So, as you go about chopping, dicing, stacking and slicing those colourful and fresh ingredients, you know you're in the hands of an expert chef who is passionate about his dinner party cookery on these courses set in the converted stables of this stunning castle hotel in Yorkshire. These cookery courses last half a day and include a three course lunch with wine. The class usually runs from 9.30 and then stops around 2.00pm when you'll enjoy lunch. You'll spend the majority of the time 'hands on' under the guidance of a professional cook who will also provide some practical demonstrations to help you with your skills. The cookery school has been designed to the highest specification and is located in the converted Georgian Stables of Swinton Park overlooking the castle turret and surrounding Parkland. You will be part of a group of up to 14.

Courses run throughout the year, usually with 3-4 weekend dates available each month.  The majority of the courses are 'Dinner Party' dishes however there are also special seasonally themed courses including 'Game Masterclasses', 'Festive Fair' and 'Student Grub'.

Swinton Park is set in 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens near the village of Masham, around 20 miles North of Harrogate. The venue has good road access via the A1(m). The nearest train stations are Thirsk or Northallerton, around 12 miles from the venue.

Courses are suitable for all levels of experience and ability. Guests of all ages are welcome however under 18's must be accompanied by a participating adult. Please bear in mind that much of the day is spent standing so comfortable footwear is a must.

Partners are welcome to join guests for lunch on the day,  a fee of around £30 currently applies and due to high demand this must be arranged with the cookery school when making your course booking.  Swinton Park is an exclusive 31 bedroom luxury castle hotel, holder of 4 AA red stars and 3 rosettes it's one of the highest rated hotels in Yorkshire and Cumbria.
