On this sushi course in Herfordshire you'll master the art of this most healthy style of Japanese cooking in just hours! The perfect present for anyone who loves sushi and sashimi, these classes run with a maximum of just six participants, so you will make the most of this half day course.

After introductions have been done, you will set to work in the kitchen. A key element with sushi making is the rice and you'll be taught how to cook sushi rice to the ideal consistency. Another important part is the preparation of the ingredients, with wasabi, chopping the vegetables and slicing the fresh fish into the thinnest slithers.

As you'll be working away on your sushi whilst you are being taught, there's no time to take notes, but don't worry all recipes are provided for you, along with preparation notes and a sushi starter pack which are yours to take away with you. You will also head away from the course with all the sushi and sashimi that you've created - well, what's left after you've taste tested!

Your class will begin with learning the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine and the cookery terms.  You will learn how to cook sushi rice, how to prepare your ingredients and learn how to make a variety of sushi recipes. Classes are hands on and all participants will make their own sushi and sashimi to take home with them along with recipes and notes. Throughout the class wine, refreshments and tasters are provided. The experience lasts approximately two and a half hours and begins at 10am. You may form part of a group of up to 6 other participants on the day allowing for plenty of one to one tuition as well as group discussion.


This sushi masterclass takes place at a professional cookery academy in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire.


Due to the hands on and practical nature of these classes comfortable clothing and tow covered footwear is recommended. A minimum age of 16 years is required for this experience.


Unfortunately this experience is not suitable for spectators.  The cooking academy has kitchen and demonstration areas as well as work stations for participants.
