This children's birdkeeper experience is specifically tailored towards children aged between seven and16, providing a fascinating insight into the world of Birds of Prey, or Raptors as the kids will soon learn to call them. The kids will learn about the physical characteristics and behaviours of each of the different species that make up this private collection in West Sussex. They will learn what, and how often the birds eat, how they are trained and how the falconers specialist equipment is used to handle them safely.

The experience aims to demonstrate all the aspects of being a keeper for the day and shows some of the hard work that goes into ensuring that these beautiful creatures are fed, exercised and kept healthy. The highlight of the day for most kids is the chance to fly a bird of prey from a gloved hand, under the careful guidance of the Falconer.

The days last approximately three hours, during which time the kids can expect to interact with a variety of Owls, Hawks and Falcons.  Because this collection isn't open to the general public and the group sizes are kept very small (maximum six kids) you can be assured of lots of involvement in the day.  The experience lasts approximately 3 hours.  Tea, coffee and soft drinks are provided.  Photographs can usually be taken of the birds at the Falconers discretion.


Keeper for a Day experiences operate throughout the year (weather permitting) on selected weekdays and weekends.  Sessions usually begin at 1030.


West Sussex, near Chichester.


The experience is for kids aged 7-16.  An adult guardian must accompany each child on the experience.  Outdoor clothing and footwear is recommended.  Maximum group size is usually 6 so you can be assured lots of personal attention.


One parent or guardian can accompany each child, additional guests may be permitted however an additional fee of £30 is charged for each person.
