
Fly fishing lessons at Bewl Water, known locally as one of the 'Seven Wonders of the Weald' is a perfect setting for taking your first steps in fly fishing. Set in the beautiful Wealden countryside of Kent, the reservoir offers waterside walks, cycle hire, picnic stops, water sports and not forgetting the outstanding fly-fishing for both rainbow and brown trout.
As one of England's foremost trout fisheries, Bewl Water offers top class fly fishing for top quality trout. The season runs from April to October and fishing can take place on several miles of bank or from one of a fleet of 54 boats.
It really doesn't matter if you have never even picked up a rod before, as these learn to fly fish experiences are taught on an individual basis and tailored just for you. You'll be guided by a fully qualified fishing coach, who lives and breathes the water with a passion that is sure to rub off on you!
The fishing lake is stocked with superb quality trout, which often weigh over 2lb when caught and are sometimes much heavier, with the record standing at 18lb. On these experiences, you get to keep your catch, so with luck you may take supper home with you!

The half day experience offers 3 hours instruction from the bank, starting at 0900 and finishing at 1200. You may continue to fish until 1500 and you can catch up to two fish which you will take home with you. The full day experience includes tuition from a boat and starts at 0900. There is four hours of personal instruction with a break for lunch, the price of which is included. You may continue to fish until sunset and keep up to two fish each.
The price includes the hire of all the necessary fly fishing tackle for the day and a 'Brace Permit' which is valid for four weeks from the days fishing which allows you to return to Bewl water and catch another two fish. All tuition is on a 1:1 basis.

Courses run throughout the fishing season, according to availability, between April and October.

Bewl Water is located close to Lamberhurst off the A21 a few miles south of Tunbridge Wells.

Bewl Water is a prefect venue for a day out for all the family, whether you are on the fly fishing experience or not. There's the Look Out restaurant offering excellent catering with stunning views from the conservatory over Bewl and its beautiful meadows and woodland. The Swallow passenger ferry sails daily from April to mid September offering 45 minute trips around the lake. Bicycles may be hired during the summer for the 12.5 mile ride around the reservoir. There are many lovely walks and a nature reserve.
