This Rods and Guns experience takes two country pursuits and puts them together to make this fly fishing and clay shooting combo day that is sure to keep you entertained. Taking place at a professional shooting ground and private fishing lake in Buckinghamshire, in the heart of the Cotswolds, it's a perfectly picturesque setting.
The experience starts with a clay pigeon shoot. All equipment and tuition is provided and you'll be taking aim at 40 clays as they hurtle through the air at varying speeds and heights. Once this tricky challenge has been tackled, you'll be taken over to the fishery.
At the fishery you'll be met by your expert angling guides and kitted out with rod, reel and the flies ready for a gentle few hours of relaxing fishing. Once out on the lake, you'll be fishing for trout and if you get a bite, it'll be high adrenaline stuff as you reel in your catch.
What we love about this fishing and clays combination is that it is a most civilised itinerary, starting at 10:30 and finishing around 17:00. A tasty fisherman's lunch can be organised at the local country pub and tea and coffee is available on site all day for free.
Your Fishing and Clay Shooting experience day will include approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours shooting plus 3 to 3 1/2 hours fishing. You will start the day with the clay shooting session which includes a full safety briefing, 40 targets practice and competition, tuition from the professional instructors, all equipment hire and ammunition. After the shooting you will have a transfer time of approximately 15 minutes to the Lake. The Fly Fishing experience takes place at a local lake fishing for brown and rainbow trout and includes the hire of Rods, reels and all equipment including flies and lures, Fly casting instruction and tips on technique and general fishing knowledge. Complimentary tea and coffee is available throughout the day and a pub lunch can be arranged in advanced.
This combo experience day is available on selected weekdays and weekends dates throughout the year. Tuition days start at 10:30am and finish at approximately 5pm. Lunch can be arrange during the transfer time at a local public house when booking.
The shooting ground is located in Long Crendon in Buckinghamshire. The high quality shooting ground is widely known as one of the best in the area.
There is a minimum age of 12 years old to take part in this experience. All under 16's must be accompanied by an adult. No previous shooting or fishing experience is required as the venue can suit your capabilities. Comfortable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear is recommended. All instructors hold CRB certificates.
Spectators are welcome to come along and take photographs of participants on the day. At the shooting ground there is a clubhouse serving hot and cold drinks and snacks, available to purchase throughout the day.
