These fishing gift experiences give you one to one tuition for either a half or full day at private lakes in South Yorkshire. Ideal for beginners, everything you need to go fishing is included, so all you need to bring along is the desire to catch a few fish and some outdoor clothing!
As all tuition is individual, the experience will be tailored to you. If you've never even picked up a fishing rod before, you'll start with the basics including an easy to understand explanation of the fishing tackle used, as well as setting up with simple fly fishing knots and leaders.
Fly fishing can be from the banks of a lake or from a boat on the lake and you will be taught about both during this fishing experience. As you start to get the hang of casting, you might even find out about false casting, side cast and even reverse or backhand versions. As well as fishing techniques, you'll learn about where to look for fish and watercraft skills.
Your expert angler for these fishing gift experiences in South Yorkshire is David Johnson, who has many years' experience fishing and coaching. You will learn lots on your first fishing outing and hopefully you'll be catching a trout that you will be able to take home and cook for your tea!
Your fly fishing tuition will enable you to cast distances with confidence and covers areas such as equipment and set up, watercraft, fly casting and a large amount of fishing techniques including induced takes, buzzer fishing, fishing with lures, nymph fishing, how to use droppers, hooking, playing and landing the fish and retrieves. All tackle and licenses are included.
These fly fishing tuition days are available seven days a week from March to November. Half day experiences last for 4 hours and Full days last for 8 hours. Both commence at 8:30am.
Experiences take place at Thrybergh Country Park on a private lake in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
A minimum age of 12 years is required to attend these experiences. A parent or guardian must accompany all participants under the age of 18. Comfortable and waterproof outdoor clothing is recommended as well as sturdy footwear and sunglasses. Chest waders are provided.
Spectators are welcome to attend and can be confirmed with the venue when booking. There is a cafe onsite serving hot and cold refreshments, as well toilet facilities.
