Join 'Coyote' and his equine friends on a Western Riding Experience in the beautiful Hampshire forests. Western 'Paint' and 'Appaloosa's' will take you out for a two hour trail, meandering across the stunning scenery of grasslands and heaths where the forest ponies roam free.
Enjoy the woods, home to fox, badger and the many herds of wild deer. Back at the stables a barbecue of sizzling chicken and steak with plenty of hot coffee awaits.
You don't have to be a 'John Wayne' to Trail Ride, the Western style of riding enjoyed here is very relaxed so it doesn't matter if you haven't even sat on a horse before.
Allow half a day for this experience which includes a two hour Western Trail, a 'Chicken 'n' Steak' barbecue, complimentary soft drinks, tea and coffee. Vegetarian meals are available, please advise at the time of booking. Safety hats and Stetsons are provided. The first ten minutes of every trail is spent in a practice arena being given some basic instruction. This enables you to settle onto your horse, practice basic techniques and experience walk and trot paces.
Sessions are available on selected weekend dates between April and October with a usual group size of 12 riders. Some dates are available in November, February and March with groups of no more than six riders. The centre is closed on Mondays and bank holidays.
The riding school is located near New Milton on the southern edge of the New Forest.
Minimum age is 12 years, maximum weight 15 stone. Cameras cannot be taken on rides. Riders must wear long trousers and shoes or boots with a small heel. Flat soled shoes/trainers are NOT suitable. You will need to supply the following details for each rider when booking: height, weight and level of any previous riding experience (Beginner, Novice or Experienced) and if a vegetarian meal is required.
The activity is not suitable for spectators, however, visitors are welcome to wait at the ranch. Riding lessons may be available to book on the day. The centre can recommend accommodation nearby.
