Enchant your children with these fabulous family falconry days in Scotland! Taking place in the grounds of Dalhousie Castle you and your children will be enthralled with the chance to meet and actually fly two superb birds of prey.

Dalhousie just outside Edinburgh is a magical setting for a spot of  family falconry, as it just looks like the sort of castle you'd imagine from medieval times, when falconry was the popular hunting sport of kings. What's more, these experiences are tailored specifically to your family and you are not grouped together with other families, so you have the full attention of the falconer and the birds of prey.

Not only do you get to have a go at handling and flying two magnificent birds of prey on this one hour family falconry experience, you also get to enjoy the very best of Scotland's countryside, with Dalhousie Castle covering 700 acres of woodlands and forests, ideal habitats for the birds such as Tawny Owls, Harris Hawks and Falcons.

Experiences last approximately one hour and can be tailored to suit each individual family. You will get to fly two birds which will be suitable for both the adults and children. You will get a good opportunity to handle and fly the birds of prey whilst gaining an insight into the art and history of the sport.


Experiences are available on selected dates throughout the year and can be arranged to suit when booking.


This family experience takes place in the grounds of a luxury castle hotel estate in Bonnyrigg located approximately 8 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.


There is a minimum age of 12 years old for this experience. All under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.


 A maximum of two spectators per family are permitted with a fee of £15 per person payable onsite. There is a bistro onsite serving drinks, snacks and meals as well as relaxing lounge areas.
