Get an insight into the world of bird life with this Falconry Introduction experience in Billericay. You'll spend a good hour at this superb farm park centre in Essex that is home to a range of birds of prey including hawks and falcons.

You'll meet Nigel, the centre director and Lisa the centre manager who will be delighted to introduce you to some of their feathered friends on the display lawn. During the session the birds will be described to you, their natural habitat and behaviour explained so you get a real understanding of these impressive birds.

The highlight of this falconry introduction is when you take your bird out into the Billericay countryside around the farm park for a flight. With a gloved hand and all the safety gear you need, you'll fly one of these birds of prey to your fist. A truly amazing spectacle right before your very eyes!

This is a one hour falconry taster experience. You will receive an introduction to falconry and birds of prey and be taught about specific birds natural habitats and hunting techniques.You will be given the opportunity to handle and fly a bird to your gloved hand. You may be joining part of a small group of up to 6 on the day.


Experiences are available on selected weekday and weekend dates throughout the year with various start times.


Falconry experiences take at Barleylands Farm in Billericay, Essex.


There is no minimum age however under 16's must be accompanied by a participating adult.


Spectators are welcome and are asked to pay a small fee when onsite of £7.50. This will allow to view the majority of the experience however will not include any handling of the birds. Barleylands Farm and Craft village offers plenty of attractions including children's play areas, farm park, arts and crafts shops and a farmers' market.
