
This falconry experience in the wilds of Lanarkshire offers a fantastic hands-on introduction to falconry with the two hour experiences, or a more in depth insight with the half day. On all you will have plenty of time to handle and fly the falconry birds over woodland, heath and grassland.
These magical falconry experiences start with an introduction to the birds and their stunning natural habitat around the centre in Lanarkshire. You will then head off on foot and take part in a hunt with Hawks and other birds*. It's truly mesmerising watching the Hawks seek out, circle over and then dive in for the prey, all under the control of the falconer.
During your time spent with the falconry birds, the expert handlers will give you a fascinating insight into the world of falconry - even the words cadge, hoodwink and callow all have their origins in this most ancient of countryside practices!
The birds of prey you'll encounter on these falconry experiences in a most beautiful part of the Lanarkshire countryside in Scotland include Red-tailed Hawks, Falcons, Harris Hawks, Owls and the magnificent Eagle.

All experiences include time handling and flying birds, learning about the different species, a familiarisation with falconry terms and a hawk walk under the guidance of an experience trainer. Participants will receive a photograph of themselves with a bird. These experiences are run on an exclusive basis so the session will usually be 1:1 with the falconer, plus any spectators.

Experiences run most weekdays and weekends throughout the year, weather permitting. AM and PM sessions are usually available. From June to August evening experiences are also available.*The hunting is available from October to March. Half day experience last 3 ½ - 4 hours with a longer duration spent on the hawk walk. Family experiences are for 2 adults and 2 children.

The venue is located in South Lanarkshire near Biggar.

Minimum age is 8 years old. An adult must accompany all participants under the age of 16 (£10 spectator fee applies). Waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear is recommended.

Spectators are welcome with a fee of £10. There are toilets and washing facilities available on site.
