These Birds of Prey days in East Kent  take place at the exclusive Doddington Place Gardens, a large private country estate offering panoramic views of the Kent Downs - a truly stunning location for an insight into this fascinating area of wildlife.

This centre is owned and run by TV presenters Leigh and Jo Holmes. As well as having a unique setting, these half and full day courses will see you meeting some really rather unusual birds, including an Augur Buzzard, which is the only one in Europe.

Both experiences start with a welcome meeting and drink with your trainer. Being a very hands on course, as soon as you have met the birds you will be given a glove to put on and start working with the smaller owls to get you used to having the birds fly to your hand. You will get a chance to admire and handle a wide selection of raptors, including owls, hawks and even vultures.

If you opt for the full day experience in East Kent you will have a lot more hands on time with each of the birds compared to the half day session. There is also a tasty buffet lunch included for full day participants. For both courses you can book spectator only vouchers too, which mean your friends and family can join you to watch all the bird of prey action, without handling the birds.
Half days last approximately 3 hours and full days approximately 6 hours. Both include a VIP tour of the birds of prey, starting off handling and flying smaller owls and progressing to fly Vultures and Eagles. You will gain an insight to a large number of different species. Full days allow for a longer handling and flying duration and include a light buffet lunch. You may form part of a group of up to three other participants.
Experiences are available on most weekdays and weekends throughout the year.
These Bird of Prey activities are held at Doddington Place Gardens near Canterbury, East Kent set within a 700 acre estate with easy access from the M2.
There is minimum age of 12 years old. All participants under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a participating or spectating adult. It is recommended that you wear comfortable walking shoes. A maximum of two spectators per participant is permitted.
There is free on-site parking as well disabled facilities. There is access to the tea room serving home made cakes and cream teas. Spectators are welcome to attend (fees apply). Cameras are welcome.
