Buy someone you love a half day experience surrounded by birds of prey! These vouchers, which are valid at a selection of our centres, offer the most flexible way to get an insight into this fascinating country pursuit as the recipient is left to choose their location.
As part of a small group, you will tour the centre's facilities, be introduced to the birds by their expert handlers and be treated to a fun and informative half day learning all about training these birds to hunt their prey, flying to and from the hand and what it takes to care and feed them.
Don't forget your camera, as the birds are all very photogenic as they sit regally on your gloved hand, lightly gripping with their razor-sharp claws and proudly raising their beaks in the air - truly a sight to behold and no wonder it was known for years as the 'sport of kings'. As these half day birds of prey vouchers are valid for a number of centres around the country itineraries vary, but all include plenty of time to handle these working birds on display.
Your experience begins with a welcome and tour of the falconry centre. You'll meet a variety of birds of prey up close and will learn about the characteristics and behaviour of each type. You'll then have the chance to handle and fly a variety of birds 'from the glove' under the guidance of an experienced falconer. There will be plenty of photo opportunities to capture your experience. Allow spending half a day at the venue with around 3 hours handling and flying the birds. Locations operate on most weekends and selected weekdays throughout the year.
Minimum age is 16, under 18's need to be accompanied by a participating or spectating adult. Additional spectator fees may apply. Dress for the weather as activities will take place outdoors, sturdy footwear or wellington boots are recommended.
Spectators are usually welcome however spaces can be limited. An additional fee usually applies (payable direct) as spectators will get to meet the birds and enjoy the flying displays.
