Escaping to experience the outdoor life is increasingly becoming a priority in our rushed, busy lives and climbing is a real 'back to basics' sport which really makes you feel at one with the beauty and challenges that nature can throw at you. Climbers talk of the mental strength which is as, if not more, important than physical strength and the slow burning adrenalin peaks when you reach the top of that climb!
This climbing experience takes place in some of the most beautiful rock climbing areas near Brecon in South Wales and is led and taught by experienced climbing and abseiling instructors, following the high standards set by the Association of Mountaineering Instructors.
As this experience is ideal for those with little or no climbing experience, the activity starts with a safety briefing and introduction to using the harnesses and ropes. Once kitted out with a helmet and harness, you will be taught the basics of climbing techniques - from bouldering and traversing the rock to being aware of hand and feet positions and their importance.
As your confidence grows and with the encouragement of your instructor, you may have time to have a go at climbing a suitable low rock face.
The afternoon session ensures you will have plenty of challenges to try out and improve on the basic climbing skills learnt in the first session. Before you know it, you will be tackling more complex, higher climbs and learning how to abseil back down - and believe us, nothing can prepare you for that 'on top of the world' feeling when you conquer your first climbing challenge!

The climbing takes place on outdoor rock faces a short journey from the activity centre, with a maximum group size of 12 to each instructor.
From May to end of October, subject to weather conditions, on week and weekend days.
The minimum age for the climbing experience is 8 years. Anyone under the age of 16 must be signed in by a parent or guardian. Children will not be mixed with adult climbing groups, unless you are a family group. There is no upper age or height restrictions, but please bear in mind this is quite a physical activity and there is a weight limit of 18 stone.
Spectators are welcome to watch at the climbing site, but must be at a safe distance and children must be supervised at all times as safety is paramount. Facilities at the activity centre base include refreshment machines, toilets and changing areas. The centre can also assist with finding suitable overnight accommodation for clients.
